Are you having problem viewing in Bangla?

We provide our webpages with a dynamic Bangla font so that you can view Bangla properly, at least in Internet Explorer, IE (version 5.0 or later), without any additional download. We suggest using the latest version of Internet Explorer (version 7) for best viewing. Try the steps below if you are an IE user having problem with Bangla.

Firefox users need to down load the font we use (step 1)  and the complex scripting support (step 2)  for best viewing. Even though we use unicode font, if you do not have complex scripting support and AdorshoLipi font, you  might see small and/or disordered Bangla characters.

The following steps are suggested with an Windows operating environment in mind. We could not yet test  The steps involve downloading and copying files and will not thus work in a situation, e.g., a computer in a public place, where you do not have those privileges. Please let us know if any of the download links are broken.

1. Font Download: We use a freeware Bangla unicode font AdorshoLipi developed by Partha Sarathi Pal. You can download this font by clicking here.

Please save the downloaded font file in a folder of your choice. Then copy the file in your font folder. For Windows users that folder would be C:\Windows\Fonts.

You can also install the downloaded font using the Font installer from Control Panel in Windows. For doing that please click on the Start menu and then click on the Control Panel. When you are in the Control Panel, click on Fonts. Once you are inside Fonts, use the File->Install new Fonts menu to pick the font you downloaded.

Our site should ideally be viewable by any Unicode Bangla font, e.g., AponaLohit, SolaimanLipi, Mukti or Rupali (but not by non-unicode fonts like Boishakhi). However, we suggest using AdorshoLipi since we used that for development.

2. If the first step do not solve your problem, you might need to install iComplex, support files for complex scripts. Complex scripts are scripts like Arabic, Bangla (and other Indic languages), Japanese etc which have complex writing rules contrasted to those for English or other Latin alphabet based languages.

You can download iComplex full version from the OmicronLab website by clicking here. This is a full version download, meaning it won't require Windows CD during installation. However, it is a more than 4 mb download and might require quite a while in non-broadband connections.

If you happen to have the Windows Operating System discs handy, you would be OK with a lite (smaller file size) version of iComplex that you can download here.

Install iComplex by double clicking on either of the exe file that you downloaded.

You might need to restart your computer.

3. If none of the above solve the problem, and if you are an Internet Explorer (IE) user, we suggest that you click on the Tools menu and then the Internet Options menu inside your IE. Now click on the Fonts Button (near the bottom of the dialog box that opened). A new dialog box will open. From the Language Scripts dropdown box please choose Bengali. Now choose one (or more) of the Bengali fonts, preferably AdorshoLipi that you downloaded in step 1 above. Save your prefernces and exit the dialog boxes by heating OK twice.

You might need to exit and re-enter the Internet explorer after each of the above steps.

If you still do not see Bangla...well, you tried! And let us know, if you would, স্প্যামবটের হাত থেকে এই ইমেল ঠিকানা সুরক্ষিত আছে। পড়ার জন্যে জাভাস্ক্রিপ্ট অন করুন।
