The threat from terrorism in Bangladesh has receded in the face of stern actions adopted by the government. Peter Lavoy,the senior director of the White House’s National Security Council on South Asia has said. Senior US security adviser Peter Lavoy has said Bangladesh has experienced a reduced militant threat in recent months and that he hopes it will subside further.
“We were worried at the emergence of militancy in Bangladesh. We are working with the government to curb it. We encouraged the authorities to take pragmatic actions against the threat,” Lavoy said in reply to a query about US concerns on militancy in Bangladesh during an interview with the Bangla Tribune, sister concern of the Dhaka Tribune.
The US government last week updated a security warning for its citizens in Bangladesh over staying and travelling throughout the
 country.
Following the Holey Artisan attack in July 2016, the US government moved family members of staff employed at its Dhaka embassy.
